FAMILY AFFAIR

Berlin I SIZE 170 M2 I YEAR 2026

FAMILY AFFAIR

the story

This 170 m² apartment was ready for its next chapter: a home that could embrace the beautiful chaos of family life without losing its sense of style.

We rethought the way the rooms connect and layered the existing architecture with color, texture, light and a new curation of old and new much-loved pieces.

The result feels collected rather than decorated. Personal, playful and designed to evolve with the family.

FAMILY AFFAIR

making waves

The master bathroom's narrow proportions reminded us of a swimming lane.
So we decided to embrace it.

We immersed the walls in Grün mit Ozean by MissPompadour, while a whimsical swimmer wallpaper across the ceiling draws the eye upwards. Sculptural lighting, ribbed glass and chrome bring a contemporary edge, finished with a bold hit of red. A recurring accent that flows throughout the apartment.

Sculptural lighting, collected art and tactile textiles unfold against rhubarb walls, creating a bedroom that feels intimate, layered and distinctly personal.

Inspired by the playful world of the circus, a canopy bed, floating hot-air balloons and striped woven baskets bring a sense of wonder to the room, grounded by muted blue walls and warm coral accents.

FAMILY AFFAIR

a little world within

Designed to shift effortlessly between home office, guest room and children’s retreat, this room had to work hard without feeling overly functional. Walls in Elephant’s Breath by Farrow & Ball create a calm backdrop, while shades of blue, dusty rose and lilac bring softness and personality. A space for focused work, overnight guests and everyday family life. All within the same four walls.

Inspired by the intimacy of an alcove, we designed the bespoke daybed as a room within a room. Complete with integrated shelving, lighting and a pull-out bed for guests. Painted in Blau mit Ozean by Miss Pompadour, its deep blue frame opens onto a playful sea-life wallpaper, echoed by the shell pendant above, while cushions in Bliss by Zimmer + Rohde add layers of softness.

FAMILY AFFAIR

Design classics meet vintage finds, bold pattern and much-loved pieces, anchored by a handcrafted kilim by Rugtales that brings colour and warmth into the room.

A layered mix of shapes, materials and personal pieces gives the light-filled period architecture a collected, effortless character.

FAMILY AFFAIR

Washed in Farrow & Ball’s Sulking Room Pink, the hallway turns a transitional space into a softly layered passage through the home.

Sculptural lighting and warm vintage wood punctuate the long sightline, leading towards the deeper, more saturated tones beyond.

FAMILY AFFAIR

Bathed in natural light, this quiet corner balances soft upholstery with graphic textiles, warm wood and understated vintage details.

A discreet workspace by the window blends effortlessly into the living room, proving that function can become a natural part of the composition.
